Committees
In order to carry out all the projects that Kiwanis is involved with throughout the year, each member is asked to join one or more committees.

Name Chairs Description
$100 RAFFLE Coordinate the annual fundraiser. Plan site location, ticket sales and promotion, refreshments, setup and cleanup.
7-11 POOL Coordinate the monthly fundraiser. Manage ticket sales and administer payoffs.
AKTION CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY Host a holiday party for the club(s) we sponsor. Plan a site, menu, and gifts.
BIRTHDAY NOTICES Notify each member celebrating a birthday in any given month, to come and have a free lunch at the birthday table during Birthday and Business meetings.
CHARTER DAY Arrange a meeting in September to celebrate our club anniversary with a program remembering past events and accomplishments.
CHRISTMAS CHEER Host a holiday party, reaching out to families in need in our community, providing gifts and dinner for them.
CINCO DE MAYO Host a meeting celebrating Mexican heritage and food.
CLERGY DAY Host a meeting for all pastors, ministers and religious workers from our community to share their stories and needs.
COMMUNICATIONS Maintain all social media, newsletters and websites.
COMMUNITY DAY Host a celebration of our community at a local park or other venue. provide food, music, rides, games and prizes. Recruit local businesses to participate.
CONEY ISLAND NIGHT Plan a fundraiser with a carnival theme. Coordinate a site, games, entertainment and food.
CYCLONE GAME Schedule and coordinate a fundraiser event with the Brooklyn Cyclones and/or the New York Mets. Arrange for tickets and giveaways. Promote date with Division clubs.
ENGLISH DAY Host a meeting celebrating English heritage and food.
EVERYDAY HEROES Recognize people and organizations for their contributions to our community, that make our life better. Provide a location, awards, and food.
FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY Host a holiday party for members and their families. Provide a location and food.
GERMAN DAY Host a meeting celebrating German heritage and food.
HALLOWEEN PARADE Coordinate the annual parade down Myrtle Ave. Prepare goodie bags for neighborhood children, costume contest, and post-parade refreshments for members.
HARDSHIP COMMITTEE Responsible for screening requests for monetary assistance for anyone in emergency financial need. Recommendations will be made to the Board of Directors as necessary.
HARVEST FESTIVAL Coordinate with the Greater Ridgewood Historical Society for their annual community festival at the Onderdonk House.
HOLIDAY GRAB BAG Host a holiday meeting to include a gift exchange by members of the club.
HOST COMMITTEE Welcome and sit with new members and guests to acclimate them to meetings and explain actions at meetings.
HOUSE COMMITTEE Coordinate all matters pertaining to the meeting place, menu for lunch or dinner, collecting the cost of meals and securing the Sheriff and prizes.
INDUCTIONS Arrange for the induction of new members, prepare the materials, and set dates for the ceremony. Coordinate with the Membership Committee to insure proper requirements are met.
INTERCLUB Coordinate members to insure four members visit each Division club to achieve the Round Robin. Visits include all our Sponsored Leadership clubs, including K_Kids, Key Clubs, Circle K and Aktion Clubs.
IRI/AKTION CLUB BARBEQUE Plan and arrange supplies and manpower for annual IRI Walkathon.
IRISH DAY Host a meeting to celebrate Irish heritage and food.
ITALIAN DAY Host a meeting to celebrate Italian heritage and food.
KAMP KIWANIS Recruit children from our community to attend summer camp. Also visit the camp when Queens West Division has their annual bus trip and report to the club.
MADISON YORK Coordinate the monthly birthday program for the residents of the Madison York Assisted Living Center
MEMBERSHIP AND RETENTION Encourage the recruitment of new members. Develop possible events and membership drives. Screen applications and ensure attendance requirements are met. Conduct "New Member Orientation" meetings when new members are inducted.
NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME Coordinate with the 104th Precinct and the YMCA to provide service and supplies for the annual summer event.
NOMINATIONS Prepare a slate of officer candidates to serve on the Board of Directors as they move up the chairs to prepare to become President of the club. Prepare all announcements of this slate of officers and conduct elections.
PANCAKE BREAKFAST Host the annual fundraiser. Coordinate site location, supplies and ticket sales.
PAST PRESIDENT/ Lt. GOVERNOR DAY Host a meeting to recognize the accomplishments of our club's Past Presidents and Queens West Division's past Lt. Governors. Send invitations to all.
POLISH DAY Host a meeting celebrating Polish heritage and food.
PRESIDENTS DINNER Host a dinner to recognize the accomplishments of our outgoing President. Plan a site location, menus, awards and ticket sales. Invite appropriate guests and dignitaries
PRINCIPALS DAY Contact and invite all principals and administrators from our community schools to share their stories and needs.
PUBLIC RELATIONS Report all club events to local papers and Kiwanis outlets with pictures and notifications. Correspond with event chairmen before and after events for publication.
RELAY FOR LIFE Coordinate the club's participation in the annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGING Coordinate with the staff at the Stop & Shop Supermarket to allow members and the Key Clubs to staff the Salvation Army Kettle.
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE Manage all aspects of the Scholarship Awards. Distribute applications, review them and select recipients. Also coordinate the transfer of funds, secure a meeting place and choose a menu.
SCREENING COMMITTEE Screen the letters of solicitation to our board. Make recommendations to the board for suggested donations or other possible responses. Maintain records of past donations for future consideration.
SKI TRIP Organize the annual club ski trip. Provide transportation, equipment and refreshments as necessary.
SPIRITUAL AIMS The responsibilities of our "Sky Pilot" are to be present for the Glendale Kiwanis family, foster positive spiritual direction, provide invocations at club meetings, and be present at funerals and memorial services to lead the club in prayer and remembrance.
SPONSORED LEADERSHIP Provide leadership to our sponsored clubs. Attend their club meetings. Keep them informed of our club's coming events. Recruit their assistance at club functions. Work with their moderators to insure recruitment and retention of membership, as well as addressing their needs.
SPORTS POOLS SUPER BOWL POOL / WORLD SERIES POOL MIGHTY 12 FOOTBALL POOL / SWEET 16 BASKETBALL POOL Coordinate these seasonal fundraiser programs.
STREET FAIRS Coordinate the club's participation in the annual street fairs held in our community. Arrange for members to provide needed service. Use the opportunity to promote our club and encourage new membership.
THANKSGIVING DAY Host a meeting to celebrate Thanksgiving. Provide a menu, decorations and a program. Invite appropriate guests.
TURKEY SHOOT Coordinate the annual fundraiser. Plan a site location, arrange prize donations and purchase, setup and cleanup, supplies and ticket sales.
UNICEF TRICK OR TREAT Coordinate the distribution of Halloween coin canisters to classrooms, donate the proceeds to UNICEF, and provide gifts and prizes to the participants and their schools.
VALENTINE'S DAY Host a meeting to celebrate Valentine's Day. Provide gifts and flowers, decorations and an appropriate program.
WINE TASTING DINNER Coordinate a fundraiser in support of the President's major emphasis. Plan a site location, ticket sales and menu.
